Eragrostis intermedia 'Madera Creek'
Madera Creek Lovegrass
Description
Eragrostis intermedia 'Madera Creek' is a showy flowering grass, which has soft blue foliage and cloud-like blossoms that are luxurious from spring through fall. Its airy seedheads create a cloud of transparent nodding flowers that are at their best when backlit by morning or evening light and look spectacular under the moonlight.
Plains Love Grass is a great flowering accent used singularly, in groups or massed. It works well in hot, dry climates with little summer water. While it does go drought dormant, Madera Creek Lovegrass will green up with summer thunderstorms or extra watering. It performs well on slopes for erosion control.
Our plants came from plant prospector and breeder Dan Hosage of Madrone Nursery in New Braunfels, Texas. He found this extremely showy and drought-tolerant selection near Madera Creek in the picturesque Davis Mountains of West Texas.
